Hon. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo Calls for Collaboration to Enhance Pension Security.

The Minister of Labour, Employment, and Job Creation, Hon. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, has paid a familiarization visit to the Authority as part of his tour of agencies under the Ministry. The visit was to introduce himself to the Authority as sector minister and to learn at the first-hand issues and challenges facing the Authority and how the Ministry can collaborate with the regulator to build a robust industry to ensure retirement income security for Ghanaian workers.
The Hon. Minister in his remarks rallied the management and staff of the Authority to not only think about what they stand to gain but also about what they can give to better the lives of the Ghanaian people. He called on the Authority to look at the bigger picture of how to make the pension system better.
He indicated that he wants the Authority to be counting successes and not problems at the end of his tenure as the sector minister.
He called for a commitment to improving the pension system and ensuring retirement income security for Ghanaian workers.
The Chief Executive Office of the Authority, Mr Christpher Boadi-Mensah on his part expressed the Authority's commitment to work with the Minister for greater transformation and innovation in addressing the coverage gaps in the informal sector and to implement strategic initiatives that align with the government’s vision for social protection and economic security for all Ghanaians.
He emphasized the Authority’s resolve to ensure full compliance within the formal sector whilst advancing key reforms that will enhance pension inclusivity, transparency, and efficiency to protect pension funds in the interest of contributors.
He called on the Minister for his guidance, support, and policy direction to navigate the evolving landscape of pensions in Ghana.
The minister’s call on the Authority marks his first official visit following his appointment as the Minister of Labour, Employment, and Job Creation by His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana.
