Leveraging Switch Technology to Increase Pension Coverage to Informal Sector Worker

The National Pensions Regulatory Authority in collaboration with World Bank organized a two day workshop under the theme “Leveraging Switch Technology to Increase Pension Coverage to Informal Sector Worker” on 3rd and 4th July, 2019 at Kempinski Hotel Accra.

The objective of the workshop was to discuss and share experiences about existing switches for inclusion and expansion of informal sector workers under the 3-Tier Pension Scheme in Ghana, the advantages and disadvantages as well as common challenges facing operation and establishment of a switch.

Participants were taken through experiences on establishing a switch technology from other countries including Mexico and Chile. Other presentations were done by representatives from World Bank, Chamber of Corporate Trustees, GhIPPS, IT Consortium, Bsystem (GVIVE), Chamber of Telcos, Chamber of Technology and National Identification Authority.

The workshop provided the opportunity for an open discussion with the pension industry players and other technology companies on the establishment of a switch technology for Ghana’s Pensions Industry.
