National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) organised a forum for Companies, Institutions and Associations with provident funds, Pension or Welfare scheme for participants in the formal and informal sectors.
The Chairman and members of the Board of NPRA were present at both programmes to steer affairs to a successful end. The Chairman, Mr. Richard Kwame Asante during his opening remarks thanked participants for their heavy representation and serious attention given to the exercise. He encouraged all present to express their concerns freely and promised to address them after the presentation by the Acting CEO, Mr. Daniel Aidoo Mensah.
As part of ensuring a successful implementation of the new pension scheme, the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), held a forum for the Formal and Informal Sector Groups on the 16th and 22nd April, 2010 respectively; to discuss the Guidelines and other documents for the implementation of the 3rd tier Voluntary Provident Funds and Personal Pension Schemes.
The Forum was used to consider and collate comments, views and proposals from the two groups as stakeholders of the new schemes, so as to fine tune the Guidelines and Standards for the Authority to publish.
Participants of both programmes were from Companies, Institutions and Associations with provident funds, pension or any kind of welfare scheme in the country.
At the end of the programme, participants were delighted and expressed their appreciation to the Authority for the opportunity given to them, to present their views, comments, and contributions into implementation of the 3rd tier Voluntary Provident Funds and PersonalPension Schemes.
After both programmes, the Chairman thanked the participants for their contributions and promised that the Authority would consider their comments carefully as they issue the guidelines. He encouraged participants to be optimistic about the New Pension Scheme for ensuring retirement income security for the Ghanaian Worker.
